Terms & Conditions
Effective date: 30 September 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are an agreement between you and True Library ("True Library", "we", "us" or "our"), a business based at Muftiganj, Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh 222170, India. They govern your use of our website https://truelibrary.in, our web application https://app.truelibrary.in, and our mobile apps, student portals and hosted library websites (together, the "Service").
By creating an account, starting a free trial, making a payment or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, Cancellation Policy, Shipping & Delivery Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Definitions
- "Library" or "you": the person or business that registers for the Service to run a library, reading room or study centre, including all its branches.
- "Library Owner": the person who created the account and controls its billing.
- "Staff": the people the Library Owner allows to use the account.
- "Students": the people whose details a Library keeps in the Service, including those who use the student portal.
- "Student Data": the personal data of Students kept in the Service.
2. The Service
True Library is cloud-based software that helps libraries manage students, seats and shifts, fees and invoices, attendance (including optional selfie and location check-in), lockers, expenses, staff access, multiple branches, a student portal, online registration, WhatsApp reminders and a library website. The features in each plan are listed on our Pricing page and in the app.
We keep improving the Service, so features may be added, changed or removed. If we remove a major paid feature, we will tell you in advance.
3. Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract under Indian law. If you register on behalf of a business, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms for it.
- Give accurate details when you register, and keep them up to date.
- Keep your password, and the passwords of your Staff, confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account, including the actions of your Staff. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use.
- You agree that we may send you emails and messages about your account and the Service. You can opt out of promotional messages anytime.
4. Free trial
- A new Library gets a free trial (currently 14 days, as shown when you sign up). Each Library can use the free trial only once.
- To start the trial, you choose a plan and set up an auto-pay mandate through Razorpay (for example UPI AutoPay, a card or an e-mandate). Your bank or Razorpay may charge a small refundable amount to verify the mandate.
- Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the first payment for your chosen plan is charged automatically when the trial ends, and your subscription continues from then.
- If you cancel during the trial, you are not charged for the plan, and you can keep using the Service until the trial ends.
5. Subscriptions, payments and renewal
- Plans and prices: we offer monthly, quarterly and yearly plans at the prices shown on our Pricing page and on the Billing page in the app. Each plan includes the features, branches and staff logins shown in the app. Prices are in Indian Rupees (INR) and are the full amount you pay, including any applicable taxes.
- Payment processing: payments are processed by Razorpay Software Private Limited. By paying, you also agree to Razorpay's terms. We do not store your card, UPI or bank login details.
- Automatic renewal: your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, and the plan price is charged to your auto-pay mandate, until you cancel. Your bank or Razorpay may send you a notice before each automatic charge, as RBI rules require.
- Price changes: a change to our prices does not change the price of a running subscription that renews automatically. New prices apply to new subscriptions and to plan changes.
- Additional branches: you can add more branches than your plan includes, for the extra fee shown before you pay. A branch added in the middle of a billing period is charged only for the days left in that period. It then renews with your plan if you approve the updated auto-pay amount with your bank. If you do not, the extra branch ends when the billing period ends.
- Plan changes: a change to a different plan starts when your current paid period (or trial) ends. Your current plan continues until then, and the new plan is charged when it starts. We do not give partial refunds or credits for the rest of the current period.
- Failed payments: if a renewal payment fails, we will notify you, and you keep full access for a grace period (currently 7 days) so that you can pay. If the payment is still not made when the grace period ends, the subscription ends, the auto-pay mandate is cancelled and your account becomes read-only. If the first payment after a free trial fails, there is no grace period and the account becomes read-only until you pay. You can pay anytime to restore full access; a new subscription then starts from the date of payment.
- Read-only accounts: in read-only mode, you can view your data, invoices and billing, but you cannot add or change records until you subscribe again.
- Other payment methods: if we agree to accept payment in another way (for example, a bank transfer), that plan runs for the period paid for and does not renew automatically.
- Invoices: we issue an invoice for every successful payment. You can see your invoices on the Billing page.
6. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel automatic renewal anytime from the Billing page. Our Cancellation Policy explains how, and our Refund Policy explains when a refund is available.
7. Purchases through app stores
If you subscribe through a mobile app store such as Google Play, the app store processes the payment under its own terms. Billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds for that purchase are managed by the app store.
8. Your responsibilities for Student Data
Your Library decides what Student Data it collects and how it is used. For Student Data, your Library is the Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and True Library processes the data on your behalf. You agree to:
- collect and use Student Data lawfully, and only to run your Library;
- tell Students what data you collect and why, and get their consent where the law requires it;
- get verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian before adding a Student who is under 18;
- ask for an ID proof only when you need it, and not make Aadhaar compulsory where the law does not allow it;
- turn on selfie or location check-in only after telling Students how it works;
- keep Student Data accurate and respond to Students' requests about their data;
- not upload any data that you have no right to use.
9. Payments between you and your Students
Students pay their fees directly to your Library, for example to your UPI ID. True Library does not collect, hold or refund these payments and is not a party to your arrangements with Students. You are responsible for your fees, receipts, refunds, taxes and any disputes with your Students.
10. WhatsApp reminders and messages
You send WhatsApp reminders from your own WhatsApp account. You are responsible for their content and for following WhatsApp's terms and the laws on unwanted messages.
11. Acceptable use
You must not, and must not allow anyone else to:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent or harmful;
- upload viruses or harmful code, or try to disrupt or overload the Service or break its security;
- access another Library's account or data, or try to get around the limits of your plan;
- copy, resell, sub-license or reverse-engineer the Service, or collect data from it with automated tools, without our written permission;
- publish false, misleading, obscene, defamatory or infringing content, including on your library website;
- harass anyone or send spam through the Service.
12. Your data
- You own the data you put into the Service. You allow us to store, process and display it only to provide, secure and improve the Service for you, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- You can ask us for a copy of your Library's data before you delete your account. We will provide it in a common file format within a reasonable time.
- We keep backups, but you are responsible for keeping any copies of your records that you need.
13. Our intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, the name "True Library" and its logo, belongs to True Library. Apart from the right to use the Service under these Terms, you get no rights in it. If you send us suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
14. Third-party services
The Service works with services run by other companies, such as Razorpay, Google, WhatsApp and our hosting provider. Their terms apply to your use of those services, and we are not responsible for their availability or actions.
15. Availability and support
We work to keep the Service available at all times, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. It may be unavailable during maintenance, updates or events beyond our control. You can reach our support team by email, phone or WhatsApp using the details below.
16. Suspension and termination
- You can stop using the Service anytime by cancelling automatic renewal, and you can delete your account from Settings → Account.
- We may suspend or close your account, with notice where reasonably possible, if you break these Terms, do not pay, use the Service unlawfully, or put the Service or other users at risk.
- When an account is closed, your data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
17. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will meet every need of your business. Check-in location and attendance data depend on Students' devices and networks and may sometimes be inaccurate. You remain responsible for your Library's decisions, fees and dealings with Students.
18. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law:
- True Library is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, such as loss of profit, revenue, goodwill or data;
- our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
19. Indemnity
You agree to compensate True Library for any claims, losses or costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, your handling of Student Data or your dealings with Students.
20. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or in the app at least 7 days before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after the change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
21. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. If you have a dispute with us, please contact us first so that we can try to resolve it (see our Grievance Redressal page). If it is not resolved within 30 days, the courts at Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh will have exclusive jurisdiction.
22. General
- These Terms, together with the policies linked above, are the entire agreement between you and True Library about the Service.
- If any part of these Terms is found invalid, the rest remains in force. If we do not enforce a right, we have not waived it.
- You may not transfer your account or these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, sale or reorganisation.
- We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, network failures or government action.
- We send notices to your registered email address or show them in the app.
- These Terms are an electronic record under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and do not need a physical or digital signature.
